Very Insightful

It is fascinating to hear how athletes diversify their porfolio in business ventures either during their career or after. This provides a view into how a majority of athletes invest their earnings knowing that most will need multiple streams of income post-playing career. It really exposes how the 21st century athlete has developed a sense of entrepreneurship trying to correct the mistakes of the past generation of athletes whose finances quickly went awry post playing career.

A combo worth listening to

This podcast brings sports and business together to show us what athletes are up to beyond the field. These guys ask the right questions to bring out the perspective that the regular sports media often ignores or just doesn’t have interest in. This is a must listen to podcast!

Real value in every episode

TGP is not just fascinating guests or great interview skills. Jay and Tim also manage to draw out the essence of work ethic rooted in athletics and the building blocks of entrepreneurial endeavors. I have loved the insights I’ve unlocked from the episodes thus far and look forward to more.

Jay and Tim ask incredibly interesting and insightful questions, and uncover really fascinating and often untold stories. They bring out the best in their guests, which makes for a very energizing and fun show. After listening you feel like you can take the athlete mentality and take on whatever dream or startup idea you have!

Perspective

It’s always been interesting to read about what pro athletes do post-career as they’re still quite young at the time; even better to hear directly via this podcast. Solid list of guests they’ve brought on and the conversation is very “real”. Keep at it!

Great for fans of sports and business

As a lifelong pro sports fan, I’ve always been interested in the sports star’s life on and off the playing field. Now as an entrepreneur I enjoy hearing the stories of fellow founders. The podcast mixes both passions into one. I definitely recommend!

Great Mix Of My Two Favorite Things

I normally don't listen to long-form podcasts, but have really liked The Game Plan. The podcast is interesting on both a business and sports level. The episodes move quickly, and cover a wide range of business and sports types. I especially enjoyed the Shawn Green episode.

Fascinating conversations all around!

It doesn’t matter if you know much about sports or understand venture capital - it’s so intriguing hearing how incredibly talented and competitive athletes transferred their skill sets to something entirely different. If you’re intrigued by just how humans learn, operate, and succeed, it’s worth the listen.

Gabfest with dudes you actually want to hear from

This podcast is awesome. To be honest: I’m not a sports fan - I’m interested in tech and the human side of investing. Listening to Jay and Tim gab with these current/former athletes is super fun and makes for an easy listen. It’s like getting all the smart, business stuff from Rogan, minus the crass sexism 😆.

An amazing sequel to athletes' careers

I can't think of a better way of reconnecting with athletes that we've all grown up watching. For me that was Gaizka Mendieta and Patrick Ianni. And for athletes, Jay and Tim provide a new avenue by which they can connect with their fans. The journey doesn't need to stop at retirement - so much potential with this!

Great Content

The quality of each subsequent episode continues to surprise me. There are many athletes I haven’t heard of but I am in awe of their stories and their commitment to having a successful life post sports. Great story telling by Jay and Tim. I also love the bit at the end where the hosts go through the business itself.
